Advancing Workplace Safety Through Wellbeing, Awareness and Leadership
PowerCell Limited commemorated the World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2026 with an engaging Health, Safety and Environment workshop focused on the importance of creating healthier, safer and more supportive working environments.
The 2026 commemoration centred on the theme, “Good Psychosocial Working Environments: A Pathway to Thriving Workers and Strong Organisations,” drawing attention to the relationship between workplace conditions, employee wellbeing and organisational performance.
As part of the programme, PowerCell hosted Engr. Jamiu Badmos, a respected safety leader in the industry, who delivered an insightful and practical session to members of staff. Drawing from his professional experience in the safety field, Engr. Badmos provided valuable perspectives on psychosocial risks in the workplace and the role that individuals, teams and leaders play in creating positive and healthy work environments.
The workshop encouraged employees to look beyond traditional approaches to safety and recognise that workplace wellbeing is an essential component of effective HSE management. Discussions explored the importance of open communication, responsible leadership, mutual respect, employee support and proactive identification of factors that can affect workers’ wellbeing and performance.
A key message from the session was that safety is not solely the responsibility of the HSE team. Building a strong safety culture requires the active participation of everyone within an organisation. From speaking up about concerns and identifying hazards to supporting colleagues and making responsible decisions, every individual has a role to play in maintaining a safe workplace.
