Recognising the people who make safety a culture, not just a rule
Safety on a worksite is easy to regulate. You write the procedures, post the signs, and enforce the rules. But building a genuine safety culture requires something harder to mandate: leadership. It requires people who choose to look out for others, who speak up before an incident happens, and who set a standard that colleagues want to follow.
This year, Powercell Limited launched its first-ever Safety Champion Initiative to recognise and celebrate exactly those people. The initiative is designed to highlight employees who do not just comply with safety standards but actively promote them. These are the individuals who notice the hazard others walk past, who take the time to explain a procedure to a new team member, and whose consistent example raises the standard for everyone around them.
We are proud to announce Emmanuel Bamigbade as the 2026 Safety Champion. Emmanuel was selected for his unwavering commitment to safe practices and the positive influence he has had on safety culture across the organisation. His recognition is not just a personal achievement. It is a signal to the entire company that leadership in safety is valued, visible, and worth emulating.
This is only the beginning. The Safety Champion Initiative will continue to identify and honour the individuals who remind us that the safest workplaces are not built by rules alone. They are built by people who care enough to lead.
