Powercell staff lead by example in a community-wide cleanup across Ikeja
For World Environment Day 2026, the entire Powercell Limited team stepped away from desks, sites, and schedules to do something far more grounded: we picked up brooms, bags, and gloves, and cleaned our own neighbourhood.
The cleanup covered Akora Villa and Adeniyi Jones in Ikeja, with particular attention to streets including Abba Johnson and Orimolade. These are areas our staff live in, drive through, and interact with daily. That proximity mattered. This was not an abstract corporate social responsibility checkbox. It was a direct investment in the immediate environment we all share.
The team worked systematically across the estate, removing litter from gutters, verges, and open spaces. Every bag of waste collected was properly handed over to LAWMA for disposal on the same day. There was no performance without follow-through.
What stood out most was the visible leadership on display. From our CEO to the senior management to field staff, everyone participated. There were no spectators. The message was clear: if we expect communities to value cleanliness, we must be willing to model that behaviour ourselves. Culture is caught, not just taught.
The day reinforced something we believe deeply at Powercell: environmental responsibility is not a department. It is not a campaign slogan. It is a habit that must be practised consistently, visibly, and collectively. One team. One community. One shared responsibility for a cleaner tomorrow.
